PostSubject: OOC reminder of Drow Lore.. and reading it.   Sat Apr 24, 2010 5:17 pm

Hey guys

I know most of you know this, and I shouldn't really have to urge you to do so, but please go to the links of drow lore.

Lately, there has been OOC disagreements with how cruel the drow are.
How ever you feel, you must keep this as IC as possible.

Things have recently ridden OOC for the simple reason that people are not certain of what kind of characters they are playing.

I've been accused now, as being a drow OOCILY, as I refuse to change my views on Qilinthas RP... No, I'm a drow IC, and I expect each and every one of you, to be one too.

If you can't.. then accept that others will be drows, and punishments are given should they need to be (IC).

I must agree with Qil on this, some people create characters in Szith without truely understanding what kind of society they are entering into.

Firstly Drow society is a matriarchal society meaning females are the top of the food chain, males are necessary but an inconvenience barely worth a mention and surely beyond notice unless they are truly exceptional.

Secondly Drow society is a strict and harsh place, weakness is not tolerated, respect must be shown to noble females at all times if a lower ranking female insults one who is higher they can expect to be punished, if a male does so then they would be lucky to get away with their lives.

Finally I have become aware of the ooc rantings which have been going on recently and all i can say is if you cannot play or handle a Drow dont be in Szith, this is a place where every action has a consequence, every word is measured and scrutinized, if your easily offended and cant handle your character being punished for being extremely stupid make a surfacer, you have no place in Szith.

I have played Drow since NWN1 and I must admit in all this time I have never met someone who played a Drow as badly as the person who is causing all this ooc upset. (I wont name names). Most people would learn after being told once, but this guy had been told time and again both in character and out of character but this person just carries on as if Szith is some kind of wonderland where all Drow must live in peace and harmony.

Well I'm afraid thats not how it works, and personally I think you should grow up get your act together and learn at least some Drow lore or get out of Szith.

Oh and on an IC note, only reason this guy hasn't died at Ashio's hands is because he is his matron hasnt given yet given him permission. But trust me Ashio will keep asking for it.

as that character drags a character of mine into this mess as they are ic connected i suggest to meet ig for a ooc meeting ( maybe after staff player meeting today?) if a dm could moderate the conversation that would be cool. We could discuss a ic solution.

the old problem...

"we Play a game Together" vs authentic character roleplay
OOC Fairness / IC consequences

both NEED to be balanced well... if we are too loose with ic consequences happy wonderland won't have the atmosphere of a drow city and we all could play sun elves.

if we are too harsh with ic consecquences and force punishments on players here and there out of the blue just because it serves the atmosphere, we will loose players and won't gain any new ones staying for long in szith.

players tend to cooperate more often if you talk to them beforehand oocly and ask them like "hey my yathrin had a bad day and she has a yath'abban with her.. can she whip your jaluk a bit for an example?"

I know it's kind of raising a dead subject, but the point of it is, IC if you make a male then you should be prepared to bend over and take it like a man. You're somewhere between a toy and a slave, there only for amusement and reproduction. Anyone wants an example, just look how Beluril acts when around Szith. Though he may be subservient for now, like all drow he's hiding his schemes to assassinate the ilharess of all three houses and supplant Lloth's rule with that of Vhaerun, doesn't mean he's going to screw up and let slip he despises the great spider b****.

// LOL @ Berulil, can't wait to see how that pans out.

Though I respect that most people on here are adult enough not to use that information; some might. Better to keep those plans to yourself to be on the safe side - sadly meta gaming does happen. Even if some people try to thwart your plans subconsciously through their RP.

Just please understand that the city of Szith will not be re-made into a non Lolthian city. Szith will remain Lolthian, Qo's trading outpost is the refuge place for for the non Lolthian folks =)
